So, I'd been having trouble with my laptop for a few months, but in these last few weeks it had gotten really bad. Where before I'd only have the occasional stall and necessary force quit, it got to the point where even doing the slightest thing would send my machine pinwheeling away. So I hesitantly backed up as much as I could, nervously trying not to upset whatever mojo was working in my favor at the moment, and then I wiped the hard drive. I did a reinstall from my OS disk, and began to slowly  move things back into their proper places.

For a few days it seemed like the hard drive wipe may have done the trick. Then, the problems emerged again. So, after some extensive troubleshooting with my more technologically literate companions, and a call to Apple Support, the conclusion was that it was probably something wrong with the hard drive, and the only thing to do was have it replaced. This meant backing up, taking it in for repair, and beginning once more from a clean slate. It also means I have to migrate and reinstall everything yet again. I swear if the issues reemerge after all of this, I may have to cry.

So, yeah. That's kind of why the comic's been late. I've been trying to do only necessary work rather than upset my feeble machine, but hopefully the refurbished laptop will be a bit more robust. Sorry for the continued delays.

As much as I am loathe to do this, I'm afraid I'm going to probably be unable to get to this week's Normalcy any time soon. There's just too much going on and too much to do this week. Hopefully things will cool down with the Vignelli Center dedication out of the way soon, and auditions having come and gone. But, until then I'll have to keep you guys on hold for a few days. Once more, sorry about all this.

Had a long day today, but the inks are done. I'll tone tomorrow and #39 should be up in the evening. I'll see you then.

It has in fact, been over a year since I last posted a strip here. For that, I can offer only an apology. However, I am by no means done with Normalcy. Though I do need to build back up to a healthy update schedule. Thank you very much if you have, and if you continue to stick with me through this.

At the very least I've finished off that bit of time, and am uploading the last four strips of the summer of '09 now. I've been summarizing the last year into a more concise telling of Sophmore year; there will be 33 panels for the 33 weeks it spanned. I've got most of it sketched out, and will be working as much as possible this next week, but am also getting ready to head back to school again. After that I'll continue updating through the Sophmore material, but work on keeping up to date with Junior year events.

Catching Up and Selling Stuff

Journal Entry: Sun Nov 15, 2009, 5:39 PM
First off, I am well aware that I am terribly behind on the comic. Yeah, sorry about that. Stuff, happened, classes started, and it was really easy to keep putting off. I need to work on getting those strips up, because I have sketched them, I just haven't refined them yet. Although speaking of strips, I have a question for you guys: Would you like to buy a print collection of these first 33 strips of Normalcy? I'm planning on selling them this Spring at Toracon in Rochester, NY, but would be open to selling them anywhere there's demand. I'm looking at $3.00 or less right now as its copier paper inside and cardstock covers. So, if you're interested tell me.

As for the strips. Well, I'll definitely try to make up for the ones I've missed, but if nothing else I'll start back up soon enough with just a gap in the events. Thanks for your continued interest and support.

How Many Ways Can I Procrastinate?

Journal Entry: Sat Aug 15, 2009, 6:44 PM
Theoretically, I guess, an infinite number of ways, but that's beside the point. The point being, that I've got strips to fill and put up, but have yet to do so this Saturday. Instead I have spent the day asleep and playing board games. In fact, as I type this, instead of inking and toning my sketched out strip, I am playing "Blokus," and this time I'm winning. However, do not let this bring despair dear readers. By Sunday morning you'll have your scheduled strip, and hopefully I'll have something sketched Sunday evening for the extra strip I owe, which I'll update on Monday. Then, I'll be back on track for Tuesdays and Saturdays until classes start back up. At that point I'll have to see what my time commitments are like and I'll determine a schedule. So, until tomorrow.

In spending my first day back from D.C. resting my wearied mind and feet I have committed the critical error of anyone holding himself to a schedule: procrastination. I'm sure you've all dealt with it yourselves, and are tired in some part at the excuse. Well, what I can do is tell you the sketches are done for strips 29 and 30, only requiring the inking and toning stages at this point, which I'll release simultaneously. Both, as you might guess are about D.C. Plus, for those of you who watch me on Hanyuse, I'll be getting up some sketches that I did over the weekend and hopefully get on to a new icon set. So, sorry about the delay. I've found sleep and laziness a seductive combination.

Rather than waste some sleep this night, I'm afraid I will instead post this journal. Seeing as this coming weekend will be my "Summer Vacation," I figure I should wait until I can draw some strips during and after it, and therefore not have a Saturday strip about my irradiated spinal column and dilated pupils Thursday. Then again, I may do that as well anyway. Still, I imagine that I'll have more material once I get back from Washington D.C. Last time I went there we got to spend most of the day in the Hospital. My friend is allergic to bees you see. Surprisingly, very good food for a government building. Anyway, no comic Saturday, but I'll be back by Tuesday with even more than necessary.

It only comes around a few times by virtue of statistics, but it is a number to be envied. Paradoxically beloved by both the very Christian and the compulsive gamblers of society, who I would imagine intersect in a way conducive to daytime television, I speak of course of the number seven. Rather, I speak of a set of three sevens, being either holy or jackpot depending on the context. I'm noticing that this analogy in quickly becoming allegorical.

I'm pleased that my little journal comic has garnered even so little interest, comparative to some of the heavyweights on this site and on the web, as 777 hits. Perhaps one day I can look forward to that series of numbers repeated twice or even, into infinity, thrice. That'd be interesting. Still, coming back to the point, I'd like to thank those of you who have come by, perused the gallery, and especially those of you who've commented. Really, you guys are the reason I keep doing this, because ComicGenesis offers no real feedback or semblance of impact, honestly. So, Thanks. I appreciate the middling interest I engender.

I'm sorry about the delay on the strip, but honestly and sincerely, I forgot. I seriously did not register that it was Monday. This is what happens when your sleep schedule gets so messed up that you sleep in till two every day. So, yeah. Sorry about the Tuesday strip, it'll be up on Wednesday on the site and Tuesday afternoon or evening here. Thanks for your patience.

So, yeah. It's Summer, and this of course means that there is potentially more time available for me to work on personal projects. Seeing as I'm trying to make this a consistent commitment I thought I might want to pour some more time into it. Namely the strip output. I'm not quite comfortable with the idea of a daily, or even three times a week yet, but I think I could handle two. So, as of next week the schedule will be every Tuesday and Saturday, or thereabouts at least.

You've already got one this week so there'll be another on Saturday as per usual. So tell your friends, especially those who have the voyeuristic tendencies of most journal comic readers. Also, be on the lookout for other projects in the works here and on my general art account, which is where I'll probably be posting any process work I make.

Also, I know I'm jumping the gun here, but I want to thank you guys for the continued support of this page. All five of you. Yep, I'm going to sleep now.

Putting aside the fact that I essentially goofed off today as a day of rest, seeing X-Men Origins: Wolverine instead of working like I should, I have been in progressively worse shape all week. Today (Or rather the last few hours) has been the final culmination, where my cold seems to have rendered my forehead a sauna, my joints arthritic, and my breathing difficult. I'll try to get the comic up tomorrow, but until then I'm in no condition to stay awake any longer. See you tomorrow.

I've gotta say, I'm honestly surprised. Maybe it's just me, but I never expected to get so many view quite so quickly. I'm very grateful to everyone who visits this page and browses through the comics, and especially those of you who give me feedback on them. So, thanks to everyone for 500+ hits on this page! New stuff is just around the corner, and Normalcy will continue to update as scheduled, that is to say it will appear at some point during the weekend. Plus, the other comics I've been workshopping could be coming soon enough, although they'll have some trouble getting started I imagine.

I am ironing plastic bags together for a 3D project. I will be doing this instead of sleeping as the project in due Monday. As such, the strip will be late, but I will make it up. Either Sunday or you'll get two next week. My apologies guys, and thanks for your continued patronage.

Comic will be delayed a little due to an inconvenient fire alarm, and even more inconvenient unexpected quitting of Photoshop. I have too much work to make up for in the loss ( I should probably save more often ), so I'll just assure you guys it'll be up at the latest on Sunday. Sorry for the delay.

I know it's a small number, especially compared to some folks on dA, but I'd like to thank you guys for helping this page hit 400 page-views. Honestly, I'm actually kind of surprised it got even that many. Just goes to show that there's an audience out there somewhere for this kind of semi-journal comic. I'll try to do something small for the dA mirror here every time we hit a milestone such as this.  So, thanks again for your support and comments, and I'll try to keep it up for the future.

Had something unexpected happen earlier and it ran a little longer than I'd alloted for it, so I've not the time to upload the next comic immediately in the morning. I'm trying to get my whole circadian rhythm thing back. Expect the comic this afternoon, evening at the very latest. It will show up on the site this Sunday. Thanks for your patience and continued patronage.

Well, I've since moved on from my previous place in academia to that thing just before the "real world," and I've let my poor comic mirror here languish in the dark for far too long. I know whoever watches this has probably thought it dead, but I'm here to say that's not the case, for what it's worth, and will soon be revitalized. Just keep watch for the steady upload of an entirely new set of strips for Normalcy, and the tentative launch of a new title: A Love Story. Probably not, but I'd like to think so.

I just realized that I have misnumbered the strips! As such I have forgotten strip two, and in order to insert it properly into the lineup I had to bump every other strip up in the line. Too bad I can't shift things around a bit more easily, but alls well that ends well as they say. So, just look back in the archive to see the strip I missed.

Plus there were five new strips uploaded, so check those out while you're at it as well if you would be so kind.

Hail to ye dA patrons out there! Be not deceived by this seemingly new account, for there is actually a bit of a catch here. In actuality this isn't really a new deviant, but rather an account of Hanyuse's. I'm using this deviantART account as a mirror for my webcomic hosted on ComicGenesis, which has been a little shaky as of lately. That and I thought it'd be kind of neat to see what people thought here, as there is no comment system on ComicGenesis and I'm too lazy to learn coding to enable one. As such you can look forward to some webcomicky goodness starting nigh instantaneously!
